Dist-Upgrade Support¶
You can upgrade the operating system of a Plesk server in two ways:
- Migrate your Plesk server to a server running a more up-to-date OS version using Plesk Migrator.
- Perform dist-upgrade.
We recommend that you use migration because dist-upgrade is not a simple process. Performing dist-upgrade requires considerable system administration experience and the knowledge of the operating system and its components.
Plesk supports the following dist-upgrade paths:
- Debian 9 to Debian 10
- Debian 10 to Debian 11
- Ubuntu 18.04 to Ubuntu 20.04
- Ubuntu 20.04 to Ubuntu 22.04
We do not recommend performing dist-upgrade together with Plesk updates. Update Plesk to the latest available version before performing dist-upgrade.
